I suppose if you’re travelling to Edinburgh and going to walk all day and go back to hotel only for sleep then Mercure is a good choice.Welcome to the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Columbus/Edinburgh, Indiana. He was really excellent! The burger was a little bit dry, but in genera it was quite good. After long waking day we came back to our hotel, as we had time before our train. Receptionist Karolina is friendly and nice. Also we met a nice concierge (unfortunately don’t know his name) who asked about our plans for today and offered to store our bags. We really enjoyed our breakfast, it was really nice. The room for my mother-in-law was much better than ours. I slept very good, the bed is very comfortable, but there is no mattress protector and the sheet is small. You can find a fan in the wardrobe, but I don’t this it will help you much. There is no air-conditioning in the room, but it wasn’t hot for me (because probably I’m always cold), but it wouldn’t suit for a person who always feels hot. The staff on check-in was nice, but the room is tired and small, but clean. We stayed with family in your hotel for one night. The room doors close very heavily, so if you're a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. I don't know if they have rooms designed for those who need assistive devices but it could be a consideration for some people. The bathtub is quite high and deep without any shower bar. If you have neck issues, you might want to bring your own pillow, because the pillows are very hard. Our room wasn't vacuumed in the 10 days we were there. Some days the room was clean, other days dirty things were left even when the room had been serviced. The desk staff was helpful and informative. While there is a lot of variety for breakfast (if you pay for it as part of your room rate), the selections are the same each day. The breakfast and afternoon tea menus were great. Anna and the restaurant/dining room staff were excellent. A good business practice would be to offer a discount on the room rate, as this is an expected amenity today. They advertise that they have wifi, which is false advertising. The explanation I got was that there are so many people at the hotel. Both the secure and unsecure connections were horrible. If you need reliable wifi, do not stay here. ![]() I'll start with a negative first, which is an important one. This hotel is difficult to review because there is some good but also some bad.
